What are your thoughts on DKP

Dragon Kill Points (usually abbreviated with the acronym “DKP”) designates a kind of currency which is earned by participating in endgame raids, and spent by acquiring loot from endgame bosses. The term DKP is also frequently used to designate raid-level loot system in general. The most popular systems for endgame loot distribution are point-based (and thus DKP systems). The very first endgame loot distribution system was developed by the guild Afterlife in 1999 and named for the original two EverQuest end bosses, both of whom were dragons

This week my guild is starting to use DKP, I helped set up the site and using it with decay seems like the best option for getting plums when there are 25 people. What are your views on DKP and does your guild use it, want to use it or do you have horror stories of it?

I’ve used DKP in my pass guild experiences and have never had a truely bad experience with it. - I credit the officers in charge of the points to this.

As long as it’s kept track of and clearly updated after every run, I don’t think there should be any issue with it.

It is generally easier to keep track of then a Suicide king’s system (I’ve seen that get screwed up more then DKP itself) and keeps all the points open for people to look at.

When you do get good at it, you’ll know exactly how much to bid people up to. ;)

Having said all of that; DKP can be great you reach 25 man content.
It gets to the point where 9+ rolls are just too hard to keep track of.

I’m most comfortable with a DKP system and will always be to a point.

My guild is not quite at a 25 man content level (though we have cleared Gruul’s Lair quite a few times now) so we don’t use it *yet*. - The time will come when we’ll have to move away from rolls and I’m sure this will be one of the options considered.

I have heard horror stories, but they generally follow the lines of “It wasn’t updated.” - keep it updated and you guys will be just fine!

I wish you much luck in this new adventure~

Pro DKP here, as long as its not abused and officers use it with an element of discretion.

Curbob or Conjude as he's know in World of Warcraft has only been playing the MMO for about a month, so yes he is a noob! Even with a background of free beta testing other online games and working for Epic Games on Gears of war as a game tester, he would still consider himself a noob compared to people that have been playing WoW for years now. So sit back, relax and learn with him, because at some time we are all gaming noobies!
