Repairs in an Instance

Noob Question, from Me, When in an instance and you die a couple times, just how do you repair? I had no idea, Sunday afternoon I’m in an instance with some of the guild mates and when you’re doing AQ20 with 10 people and not everyone is 70, and you have a noob like me, bad things start to happen. I probably died 3 times before anyone else so my armor was starting to turn red, I was wondering what I could do, but there weren’t any NPC close, so I shrugged it off and still played but kept my distance, yeah range shots with a rogue just aren’t as fun.. Suddenly we have 2 wipes in a row and I hear one of the guildies say over Vent, “hey is there an NPC close to repair?”, With my armor at ZERO! I listened! A reply comes back, no but I have a couple repair bots in my bag.. What? What is a repair bot??

I guess at level 300 you can get a recipe to build a [Repair Bot] but many engineers didn’t create them because they were so expensive. Now after patch 2.3 the price has come down and you create 5 instead of one. As an engineer at level 250, this is one of the things I will make sure I always have created and in my bag once I hit that level. This bot could make or break an instance. Not only does it repair but you can also sell items to it and buy many NPC items including the highest ranking shot and arrows. With this bot you could easily become someones best friend.

I don’t know if it is easier to learn the repair bot recipe now but it used to be taught only in Blackrock Depths in the room right before the bar (Golem Lord). When repair bots were added to the game it was a wonderful thing mainly focused on 40 man raids and less on 5 man groups. I hope the cost reduction makes them more viable for 5 mans now. Another thing that makes them cheaper now is that Fused Wiring can be made and doesn’t have to be farmed in Gnomer.

Also some instances have repair venders (Karazahn, Gnomer and I think the Library in Dire Maul all have one).

Anyway, good blog I am throughly enjoying it since I haven’t been a WoW Noobie since Nov 2004.

Repairs are always tricky. I know I always heavily appreciate the engineers that drop bots down for the raid to repair, but I never rely on them. In Azeroth, there’s a larger problem with repairs for instances, which is one thing that I think was at least worked on for TBC. Just about all of the TBC instances are near to someplace that can repair, even if it requires you to faction grind at first (like the guy outside SSC). I remember having to race from ZG to a repair vendor when the guy who made our bots for our runs wasn’t on one night. It took forever for the raid to get back moving and killing. Pretty much, if there’s no place nearby to repair, and I’m in the red on my armor, I’ll beg for a 5 minute break, hearth, repair, and start running back. Granted, the ideal is to be summoned back with a summoning stone, but that’s not always easy.

I just realized how spoiled I am with the Outlands instances and their repair places all over the landscape!

Since, I’m just now venturing into the Outlands, this will be something to look forward to, but truth is, it can’t hurt to be able to drop one of these bots at any given time.

Curbob or Conjude as he's know in World of Warcraft has only been playing the MMO for about a month, so yes he is a noob! Even with a background of free beta testing other online games and working for Epic Games on Gears of war as a game tester, he would still consider himself a noob compared to people that have been playing WoW for years now. So sit back, relax and learn with him, because at some time we are all gaming noobies!
