I think one of the reasons I’ve stayed a WoW Noobie is because I just don’t have the time to do raiding and if I had the time to Raid, I still wouldn’t have the time to study that weeks instance, learning the trash, the map and the bosses weaknesses. This time restraint also is a reason I feel I don’t know my toon well enough torisk killing others, If I did Raid.

So one of the things I’ve found fun is, when I have an hour or so (on my own time) is to run my own raids on old lower level instances. For most of the dungeons this is my first time visiting but I usually don’t have to worry about dieing since I’m 80 and they are lower levels. Since I don’t know the maps either I do get lost some but it’s kinda fun exploring.

This past week I’ve had a little time on my hands so I was able to run Gnomeregan and Stratholme. Stratholme was great, since it’s level 56-61 I still had to be on my toes when attacked but groups. Not alot of gear dropped but it was a tense and fun solo battle. Last night I ran Gnomeregan, at times this could get a bit boring because usually everything was a one hit kill, but the drops were crazy last night! I bet I sent 30 greens and a couple blues to my bank alt and had the good luck to get both Schematic: Lil’ Smoky and the Schematic: Pet Bombling. So not only did just selling gear get me around 300G but I learned to create 2 new pets that I can sell and sent some sweet gear to my alts. Oh and I almost forgot I also received another drop that I didn’t know existed, the Manual: Strong Anti-Venom.

What should be my next solo dungeon? Have you ever done this?

Thanks for a comment from PVE Rougues I was given the heads up that in Winterspring there is an NPC that if your rep with him is Exalted he will sell you a Frostsaber mount. This is a fairly rare mount, not because only a few can do the quest, but it’s rare because most don’t make it through the grind. Also Winterspring is one of the areas set to completely change when Cataclysm releases, so this maybe your last chance to get this Mount.

The hard part about getting any rep with the Wintersaber Trainers is he will only give you 1 quest, after you grind that quest around 5-6 times, he offers another quest. You then have to grind the 2 quest until you reach the reputation of Honored. Once you reach Honored, he offers one more quest for a long hard grind to Exalted.
Read PVE Rougues daily log of his grind for the long drawn out details of this Rep Grind Grinding Wintersaber Trainers Reputation

As for my grind, I’ve just become Honored and will be starting the 3 quest grind, but for a break I read a post on wow.com on how to obtain the Dartol’s Rod of Transformation, which will transform you into a Furbolg. How better to fight the Winterfall Furbolgs for my mount than to fight them as a Furbolg.

As I said in my last post, my new paladin has reached level 10, that means it’s time to choose our talents. The Paladin has choices between Holy, Protection and Retribution. But what talent tree is the best or I should say the best for you?

While you should choose the talent tree that works best with your style of fighting or how you’d like to fight, Got Warcraft says:

Retribution paladins, the offensive variant of the paladin class, have more recently become increasingly viable candidates for raiding positions as well as taking spots on arena teams where we were once seen as only healers. In fact, Paladins are now very common in high ranking arena teams and Ret Pallies are feared in the Battlegrounds.

Holy Paladins, however, have suffered somewhat for this, becoming increasingly unused in favor of shamans and druids as replacements. This in large part due to our inability to heal on the run and complete lack of AoE healing abilities, such as priests possess.

Finally the protection variant of paladin has prospered the greatest, finally taking a place alongside warriors and druids as a true possibility for primary tank throughout the raiding dungeons and various instances open to us.

My first instinct was to go the path of holy since I like using the all the spells and they help a lot while fighting but I’m going to give a good look at the other talents and combined with what weapons and armor I’d like to use, I may choose another talent spec. The good thing about choosing a talent in WoW is that you can test one, pay a small amount and change your talent tree when ever you like.

The first noobie question I had for my new paladin was: Should my paladin use a (1H) 1 handed weapon with a shield or a (2H) 2 handed weapon? After doing some research it looks as if you’re soloing (like I am) you should go with the 2 handed weapons, this allows for a faster kill with more DPS. Since Paladins have great armor already you don’t really need the extra armor of a shield unless you’re tanking for a group. If you’re going to start doing groups right away, I’d start using a 1 handed weapon and a shield. It’s always good to have the extra set in your bag, just in-case. But at a lower level we really don’t have the bag space to be carrying around extra weapons and armor. So for me, until I gain some extra levels, it’s going to be a 2 handed Mace.

Question: How long have you gone before sending help to your alt?

Last night I decided to roll my first alt, even though I’m not at 70 on my main, I still wanted to see how Hunters played, So I roll a Night Elf hunter and go on my marry way of killing and leveling. First thing I notice is wow, my bag is getting full pretty darn quick, even at level 2 I was quickly filling it up, yes I could trash the grays, but I had planned on selling everything, this way my main doesn’t have to send anything to my alt. Running back to the starting area, I couldn’t find anyone to sell my good to, I’m sure i missed them but I wasn’t going to spend the time looking all over for them. I’m now at level 3 and level 4, bags are full, no need for money yet but i’ve already had enough.. Log off..

Logging into my main, I hit the AH, buy 3, 16 slot bags and start to hit send when I think, hummm I may need some gold in the near future, so slap on 10 G and hit send. All the while in my head I’m seeing my self on the way to a twink (ohhh nooo). Logging back into my alt, I soon realize not only is there noone to sell my stuff to, but there are no mail boxes in the starting area. It was time to move on to an area with a mail box any way, I had completed all quest in the starting area and had hit lvl5.

Moving on to a town, the first thing I did was get my mail, equipt my bags and (hanging my head in shame) by equ from a vendor in town that was better than what I was using. At least it was still my level of equipment and now some uber stuff bought off the AH (which could still happen so I won’t preach against it:) ) So as you can see, I lasted about 30 minutes before sending the kids money, how long have you waited? Have you started a toon on another server just for this reason? And if you do send your alt stuff to you set limits, or is it what ever they need, the alt gets?
